Hawaii: Bump Stock Ban and Firearm Surrender Legislation in Committee Tomorrow

Two pieces of legislation that LEAP Forward is grading will be heard before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow, February 27:

SB 2046 - by Sens. Karl Rhoads (D), Stanley Chang (D), Gil Keith-Agaran (D) and Clarence Nishihara (D) - Prohibits trigger modification devices, including bump stocks, that are designed or function to accelerate the rate of fire of a semiautomatic firearm.

SB 2436 - by Sens. Clarence Nishihara (D), Rosalyn Baker (D), and Karl Rhoads (D) - Shortens the time period for voluntary surrender of firearms and ammunition upon disqualification from ownership, possession, or control from 30 days to 24 hours.

LEAP Foward is scoring SUPPORT on both pieces of legislation. 

Democrats have a 7-0 advantage on the Judiciary Committee and a 25-0 advantage in the state Senate.
