Hiral Tipirneni (AZ-06), "Too many lives lost"

I became a doctor to save lives, and when I see so many precious lives lost to senseless gun massacres, it’s clear that we have a public health crisis on our hands. It infuriates me, it scares me, but also, it breaks my heart. We know we can, and must, do better.

The majority of Americans agree that common-sense gun laws, like universal background checks and removing military-grade weapons from our streets, are necessary. Lawmakers have an obligation to keep our communities safe, but the Senate refuses to act.

This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. We all agree that we need to keep deadly weapons out of the hands of those who would do us harm. Yet, after all the “thoughts and prayers” tweets, nothing changes. The horrific events of this weekend are yet another urgent wake-up call that we need to take action NOW. Enough is enough.
