Georgia - Democrats introduce two gun regulation bills in state legislature

Bills introduced by Democrats in the Georgia House and Senate this week would enhance safe storage laws and keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals. Georgia SB 150 and HB 384 are both being graded by LEAP Forward.

The Senate legislation, by Democrats Gloria Butler, Emanuel Jones, Jen Jordan, and Nikema WIlliams would prohibit people convicted of misdemeanor crimes related to family violence from receiving, possessing, or transporting a firearm and extend that prohibition to subjects of family violence protection orders. The House bill, sponsored by six Democratic Representatives, would require the secure storage of firearms kept in a home.

The bills are still awaiting committee assignment.
