✔ HB 101
House Bill 101 prohibits the Department of Public Safety (DPS) from requiring the resubmission of fingerprints to renew a concealed carry license. The bill amends the title of Section 29-19-6 NMSA 1978 by striking the word “appeal” and adding “license issuance” and “lost or stolen license.” The bill amends Section 29-19-6 NMSA 1978 (F) ((3)) by adding new language prohibiting DPS from requiring a fingerprint if the department has gathered the licensees fingerprints in the past, including initial application for a license that was approved and issued. However, the department may require those renewing licenses to submit to a background check if required. The bill would become effective on June 14, 2019.
