 Repeal Second Amendment

  • The Second Amendment, as redefined by the Supreme Court in 2008, should be repealed or redefined because it now prevents effective gun-safety regulations from being enacted.

Note: The gun mayhem costs taxpayers, including the 78% of Americans who don’t own guns, over $229 billion dollars annually.

  • Laws permitting openly carried privately owned weapons must be based on a clearly defined public interest. Carrying concealed weapons should not be permitted.

Note: These laws have resulted in an increase in the number of gun-related homicides and injuries and 90% of Americans do not want guns carried in public places.

  • Mandatory gun buy-back programs to reduce the number of privately owned guns in the U.S. should be initiated by the federal and state governments.

Note: Mandatory gun buy-back programs in Australia and other developed countries have demonstrated these programs reduce the number of gun homicides and injuries.  There are more guns in private hands in the U.S. than in any other country; 22% of Americans own 265 million guns.
